Job Summary: The Member Services Representative will assist customers with purchasing services and merchandise in person, on the computer system, and on the phones.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Greets and interacts with customers including answering phone system.
- Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to services and merchandise.
- Demonstrates and explains services and merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customers’ needs.
- Assists customers with purchase decisions.
- Schedules reservations for grooming, training, daycare appointments.
- Collects payment using the store point of sale system.
- Performs Daycare attendant duties as assigned or as necessary.
- Maintains regular communication with supervisor to report problems or safety hazards.
- Represents PUPS in a professional and positive manner.
Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and customer service skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the services/merchandise sold.
- Ability to recommend services/merchandise to customers.
- Ability to operate or to quickly learn the club’s point-of-sale system.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 to 3 years of retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills including a point-of-sale (POS) system preferred.
- Effective communication skills.
- A love for dogs.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Able to safely lift dogs of up to 50 lbs.
